ORIOL ARUMÍ
(Vic, 1972)
I am a visual artist and muralist specialising in figurative painting, large-scale portraiture and public art projects connected to memory, identity and human relationships.
I studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and began my professional career as an illustrator and painter. For more than two decades, I worked primarily in portraiture, figurative painting, landscape and visual storytelling, developing a solid technical foundation and a distinctive artistic approach.
I have been based in Lleida for more than seventeen years, and since 2012 I have focused much of my work on muralism. I have created more than 130 murals in public and private spaces and have worked with local councils, cultural institutions, schools, organisations and mural festivals.
My style is figurative, precise and accessible. I am interested in creating images that establish an immediate connection with the viewer and engage with the architecture, surroundings and history of each place. Through realism, humour and fantasy, I aim to transform everyday walls into scenes that invite people to stop, observe and feel.
A significant part of my work focuses on people and the relationships that shape a community: children, older people, historical figures, cultural icons and individuals closely connected to a particular place. Nature and animals are also recurring elements in my work.
I see public art as a way of creating identity, memory, awareness and a sense of belonging. Through portraiture and mural painting, I aim to create images that not only transform a space, but also strengthen the connection between people and the places they inhabit.
